In 2014, with the blessing of Metropolitan of Alaverdi David, a copy of the Shuamta icon of the Savior was painted from the original, also preserved at the Georgian Museum of Art. The icon was adorned by the beneficence of the Georgian benefactor Dimitri Abdushelishvili. Similar to the Shuamta Khakhuli icon, the icon of the Savior was placed next to the original, and then, on the forefeast of the Nativity of Christ, was solemnly deposited in the monastery.
The icon of the Savior repeats the original down to the last detail, except that, unlike the original, it does list the saints, fifty-eight in all, whose relics are inserted in its back. These are:
